Omana Regional Park is located 42 kilometres to the south-east of Auckland. The compact park is ideal for gentle walks and runs with some decent places to enjoy a picnic and take in the glorious views of the inner Hauraki Gulf.
The family friendly park features a shelly beach which offers safe swimming during high tide, shady pohutukawa trees and a few good walks that lead through farmland, an intriguing pa site and past some great viewing points to enjoy the Hauraki Gulf.
Featured Walks:
Perimeter Walk - 1 hour - 2.5km. An enjoyable, and easy walk that leads through native forest, open paddocks, stunning ocean views, tidal estuaries with life-giving mangroves (manawa), and a Mäori pä site. A short and steep detour to the 'lookout' will reward you with the best panoramic views of the area.
Omana Farm Walk - 15 minutes - 0.5km. The Omana Farm Walk is a short and interesting diversion from the main Perimeter Walk. It's a gentle stroll across a classic postcard rural setting, rejoining the Perimeter Walk at either end.
